ISS MISSION CONTROL
In 2006, Amtex Precision was honored to be a part of a large scale undertaking and to work with engineers from Lockheed Martin on a historical project for one of NASA's Mission Control rooms at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
The project's goal was to create a new home for the International Space Station's flight controllers with increased technical capabilities and more workspace. Amtex Precision was responsible for all of the sheet metal fabrication, which included 20 custom consoles, custom printer stands, custom projector hardware, custom shelving, and other critical parts required for the project.
With a strict delivery date requirement, Amtex Precision was given 2 months to manufacture all required parts and assemblies for the project. In addition, we provided first run articles to Lockheed engineers, which were test fitted at NASA to ensure proper fit before we were allowed to complete the order.
Through dedication, teamwork with Lockheed, and our value added fabrication methodology, we delivered the project on schedule with zero defects. In appreciation of our commitment to delivering quality and on-time orders, we were invited to new Mission Control ribbon cutting ceremony and presented with a token of appreciation from Lockheed Martin.
ATLANTIS MISSION CONTROL
In 2007, Amtex Precision was again honored to work with Lockheed Martin engineers on another Mission Control room project.
This project's goal was to modify the existing consoles in Atlantis' Mission Control room in order to add more functionality to the flight controllers' work space. Again, Amtex Precision was responsible for all of the sheet metal fabrication which included 15 custom console assemblies.
The delivery schedule allowed only 7 weeks manufacturing time, including first article test fitting and approval.
Again, Amtex Precision delivered on schedule with zero defects.
